 In the STAMP (Station Access and Mobility Programme) challenge, organized by the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project in collaboration with the World Resources Institute, the Toyota Mobility Foundation, and L&T HMR, Adapt Motors was recognized as one of the three winners for its pioneering electric rickshaw.

 The Sweekar Passenger E Rickshaw has captivated audiences with its sleek design and impressive specifications. With a charging time of just 4 to 5 hours and a range of 100 km, it features a seating capacity for four passengers plus one driver, along with a robust Indian-made engine. This innovative electric mobility technology not only enhances last-mile connectivity but also helps reduce urban pollution, providing a sustainable alternative to diesel and petrol autos in rural areas with limited fuel access. “Adapt Motors proudly embodies the spirit of ‘Startup India’ by innovating in the electric mobility sector and promoting sustainable transportation solutions.”

 Mr. Madhukar Reddy, one of the key founders of Adapt Motors, expressed excitement at being among the winners. He emphasized the company’s commitment to research and development and revealed plans to launch a flagship solar-powered battery rickshaw with battery backup soon. This upcoming model will allow users to run the vehicle on solar energy during the day while reserving battery power for nighttime use, effectively maximizing its utility for commercial applications. Mr. Reddy highlighted that future e mobility vehicles will incorporate similar dual-function capabilities, setting Adapt Motors apart in the competitive landscape of electric mobility.

Founded in 2014, we set out with a clear mission: to create a greener, cleaner planet by introducing electric mobility vehicles to combat pollution. At that time, the streets were filled with thousands of diesel and petrol vehicles, releasing harmful emissions that severely degraded air quality. Adapt Motors was born with a singular focus: to tackle this environmental crisis and eliminate pollution.

We understood the enormity of the challenge ahead. We chose a difficult path, driven by our passion and commitment to our mission of removing pollution-causing vehicles from our roads, allowing people to breathe easier. While we had ambitious plans to explore various markets, we initially focused on the electric rickshaw segment due to its affordability and ease of adoption.

When we launched our first passenger e-rickshaw, we faced numerous obstacles, including skepticism from the public regarding the sustainability and reliability of electric mobility technology. Awareness was low, and acceptance was slow as the market for electric mobility vehicles in India was still in its infancy.

To shift perceptions, we pivoted our strategy to prioritize public education on the benefits of e-mobility vehicles for both individuals and the environment. We engaged the community through workshops, trial runs, and vehicle displays across Hyderabad. Despite being a startup with limited funds, we invested in television and print media to amplify our awareness campaign. Our commitment to our vision kept us motivated, even during challenging times with minimal sales.

Gradually, our efforts began to bear fruit. We generated excitement in the market, and by our second year, we had hundreds of battery rickshaws on the roads, with customer satisfaction soaring due to their performance, mileage, and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional vehicles. Our electric rickshaws, powered by advanced rechargeable battery technology, delivered 100 km on just a 4 to 5-hour charge and quickly gained a reputation for reliability. As one of the electric auto rickshaw manufacturers in Hyderabad, we ensured that our focus on battery manufacturing provided high-quality solutions for our vehicles. Positive word-of-mouth spread rapidly, leading to significant orders from NGOs, large organizations, and government bodies across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

To ensure accessibility to spare parts, we established over 22 dealerships throughout South India, rapidly positioning ourselves as a leading manufacturer of electric mobility vehicles in the region. Our commitment to customized e-rickshaws allows us to meet diverse customer needs effectively. Our rising popularity earned us a spot in Telangana’s esteemed T-HUB, putting us in the spotlight and enabling us to win several prestigious awards. Today, we proudly supply electric autos to various government initiatives, further solidifying our status among the leading electric vehicle manufacturers in India.
